3 John 1:2 – “Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].”
Prioritizing Your Health in the New Year
As we begin a new year, it’s a great time to renew our commitment to wellness—mind, body, and spirit. January offers a fresh start, and small, consistent steps can lead to lasting health changes. Here are a few focus areas to help you start strong in 2026:
Keep Up with Preventive Care
Schedule your annual physical/wellness visit
Stay current on vaccinations
Monitor key numbers: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight
Medications
If you’re taking medications, improve your adherence by using a pillbox for reminders, keeping a medical diary, and ensuring you attend all your appointments
Nourish from the Inside Out
Add more whole, unprocessed foods to your plate and limit processed foods high in sugar, salt, or unhealthy fats
Include heart-healthy ingredients like leafy greens, oats, salmon, and berries
Try meal prepping for the week to reduce stress and improve consistency
Support Your Mental Well-being
Get enough restful sleep (7-9 hours)
Begin and end your day with prayer, gratitude, or scripture meditation
Limit screen time and schedule moments of quiet or stillness
Stay Hydrated & Active
Keep a refillable water bottle with you throughout the day
Aim to walk at least 30 minutes most days of the week
Start small: stretch each morning, take short walks, or try a beginner workout video
Simple Goals to Embrace in January
Drink 8 cups of water daily
Eat at least 2 servings of vegetables a day
Read a Bible verse or devotional each morning
Replace one processed snack with a healthy one
Invite a friend or family member to join you on a wellness goal
Let this be the year we take small steps toward a healthier life.
